o 4 events was the goal, now looking at 1 this semester (November) and 2 in the spring
o Might have one event next semester with the Ithaca Latino Civic Association

o We have to recommend books we like and provide limited amount of PDF for them

· Long Island Iced Latina: Marga Gomez on Thursday, April 22 at 4:30PM
· LSP Lunches with President Skorton (23rd) and David Cohen (16th)
· LSP course offerings were circulated
· Advisory board meeting info being circulated
· Constitution to go on web site
Treasurer:
· Working on getting money from grad school into bank account
o Perla is working on that
· We will be charged later and transfer our funds for the immigration event

I. Constitution
· Idea of logo needs to be picked
o Open up to LSP students to design logo
o Offer food to “winner”

II. Social with other groups
· Perla spoke with Michael from Latino Business Association
o Going through elections right now
o Michael wants to come to one of our meetings
o People starting to hear about us!
· Meeting with a prospective student this Friday at 4:30PM at barn

· Talk about LGSC viewing of Day Hall take-over when we come back from spring break

III. Latino Faculty Dinner
· Thursday, April 1st
· 6:30-8PM in 4th Floor Rockefeller Conference Room
o Wed March 24th RSVP date
o Catered by Cocina Latina
o Coffee and tea provided by LSP
o Undergrads on hand to assist with servings
o Take care of all cleanup too
· Marti will place order for us ($9.50-$10 per person)
· Expecting 30-40 people

· With upcoming events, general info, etc. emails should go out Sunday before a week starts
o Perla willing to take lead for March on this initiative
· Trying to compartmentalize lists by social events, alumni, professional, etc.
· Look at LASP calendar for Latino events
VIII. La Asociacion Latina (LAL)
· Couldn’t make last meeting
· Perla emailed them about info on their site
IX. Executive Reports
· Treasurer: $3,000 budget after Anthropology event and $500 deposit
· Need to document what we do to establish legacy and institutionalized events
· Keep Ithaca College Latino groups in mind as well
· LSP Rep: Natalie went to last LSP advisory board meeting
o Reviewing criteria to constitute LSP class
o Should talk about what we want to see done
o Speak with Sofia to help with that process
· Natalie also spoke about issues we should also raise
o Especially important as grad students
· Need to look for commonalities with Mellon to help get funding
X. Website
· Christian will email Chris Zepeda again about making the board administrators of the LGSC
· Perla will work on blog
XI. Anthropology Event
· Will be on April 16th, 2010
· Flyer has been created by Marti
· We’re only contributing $1,000
· Posters will be looked into
· Perla will put event on Cornell Calendar
· Rodrigo helping Blanca with potluck and reception (on Friday)
o Saturday workshop on ethnography
o Curriculum needed for that
o How will we open it to larger Cornell community?

I. Executive Board Elections
· 1-year terms established, effective immediately.
o Co-Chairs: Christian Guzman & Perla Parra

o Latino Studies Program (LSP) Representative: Natalie Soto
o Secretary: Matt Stieglitz
II. Meeting Structure
· Once a week, bi-weekly as needed
· Time & Location: 6:15PM in the LSP Conference Room (if available)
III. Constitution
· To be reviewed and amended at next meeting
· Position descriptions and responsibilities will be assessed and further developed
· Organizational identity and direction will be established
IV. Action Items
· SAO web site record of LGSC board will be updated by Natalie
· Semester agenda will be set at next meeting
· Discussion will take place regarding a faculty dinner for the first week of April
· Allocation for immigration panel event with the Anthropology department will be reviewed
o Currently no funds left for programming.
o Only money in budget is for co-sponsorships.
· Greater collective recruitment of other Latinos is needed
· Possible co-sponsorships will be forthcoming with the Johnson School and Law School.
V. Upcoming Events
· “Hush Party” on Saturday, 2/20—details coming.
· Lecture by Professor Ana Ramos Zayas from Rutgers University on Thursday, February 25th at 4:30PM in the AD White House. Latino identity will be discussed.
